<p><a href="http://www.myspace.com/bearries">Bearries</a>, an experimental electro-dance outfit out of Chicago, make exciting live-electronics based music that is refreshing to the ear, and I can only imagine how they must sound live. Based on some of the footage and pictures I&#8217;ve seen on <a href="http://www.myspace.com/bearries">their Myspace page</a>, I&#8217;m sure they put on a hell of a show. </p>
<p>There&#8217;s just something about seeing electronic musicians live on synths and drum machines, twiddling knobs and pushing buttons on <em>actual</em> pieces of equipment that make a performance <em>that much</em> better than just say, seeing someone in front of a glowing laptop like they&#8217;re checking mail in front of an audience (No disrespect to anyone btw, it&#8217;s just more fun watching shows when musicians use real music equipment!!!)</p>
<p>Bands of the past like <a href="http://www.throbbing-gristle.com">Throbbing Gristle</a> and <a href="http://www.kraftwerk.com">Kraftwerk</a> (both of which I&#8217;ve never seen, to my dismay) to newer acts like <a href="http://www.wolfeyes.net">Wolf Eyes</a>, <a href="http://www.meatbeatmanifesto.com">Meat Beat Manifesto</a>, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/solventcity">Solvent</a>, and <a href="http://www.adultperiod.com">Adult.</a> (all of which I have seen) do this well, inviting the audience to a more intimate and personal performance with every sound they command out of their machines, and in a way it seems Bearries do this well too&#8230; if you ever get a chance to see them live, do so!</p>
<p>Here are two of their tracks, both almost around ten minutes each. These are amazing electronic excursions! Enjoy!</p>

last month the site made about a lot less than it costs to run so we had a major stumble. on top of that your appetite for free music was 2 terabytes over what we pay for, and it's like cell phone overage, those extra gigabytes are expensive.

Just paid one of the servers for the year, got to pay the other one for the overage of last month and next month.

Disaster and I are hustlin' and we'll have it back up in a couple weeks if not sooner. With some better planning (and hopefully better economy) it won't happen again.

While we're twiddling our thumbs, I've been building a better site. You can peek in on it here: http://missingtoof.com/?theme=acid right now it's kinda fucked (buggy, may take a long time to load, may even crash your browser, who knows). I set up this working framework here: http://missingtoof.com/sort.html . The RSS icons are temporary images that serve as handles allowing you to move columns around via jquery sortable. The order is written to a cookie and the order is saved and restored upon return visit. Any Jquery programmers who love to troubleshoot i'd love to hear from you! Between the working framework sort.html and the other link I tried plugging in all the wordpress stuff and that made things not work. I'm still massaging things, trying to get sortable and the cookie to play nice with wordpress' php templates. I Only fiddled with that part for a couple hours, only half-way knowing what i'm doing. Any javascript/php gurus in the bloghouse? Holler at me.

Even if all that was jibberish to you. I'm love to hear suggestions about what features you'd like to see. My goal is to make the text information we present, easier to skim through in a way that is tailored to the user. As far as the music downloads, my goal is to present files in a way that gives more attention to audio quality in 'blog culture' by displaying metadata prior to download.

Additionally I'm setting up a webstore, flux community, and perhaps last.fm support for streaming. Are these good ideas? Are they bad ideas? Should we go a different route?

We're still ambitious and still love blogging about music&mdash;y'all just made us majorly broke this month! Let me slang these Gpacks and get my money right, I'll holler at you on your googlereader. one love.</li><li><a href="http://missingtoof.com/2008/10/27/bearries/#comment-25194">November 17, 2008</a>, <a href='http://www.dangerdanger.org' rel='external nofollow' class='url'>Jan</a> writes: Okey, hope it'll all work out. <p>&#8220;Indianapolis born and raised, ACTION JACKSON has quickly established himself as one of the premier up and coming DJs in the country. Specializing in genre bending mixes that span multiple styles of music, he is equally comfortable spinning hip-hop, Baltimore club, electro, old school classics, dancehall, rock, and everything in between. His productions are diverse as well, having remixed artists such as Hall &amp; Oates, <a href="http://missingtoof.com/index.php?s=soulja+crank">Soulja Boy</a>, and <a href="http://missingtoof.com/index.php?s=treasure+fingers">Treasure Fingers</a>. In short, there&#8217;s not a crowd or party that he can&#8217;t rock. In 2007, he partnered with <a href="http://missingtoof.com/index.php?s=flufftronix">Flufftronix</a> to form Rad Summer, a booking and promotions company, and has since been responsible for several succesfull events throughout the Midwest as well the first Indiana performances of <a href="http://missingtoof.com/index.php?s=flosstradamus">Flosstradamus</a>, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/dj_assault">DJ Assault</a>, <a href="http://missingtoof.com/index.php?s=toxic+avenger">The Toxic Avenger</a>, <a href="http://missingtoof.com/index.php?s=scottie+b">Scottie B.</a>, etc&#8230;&#8221; </p>

We use the Identicon plug-in with the Gravatar service. What this means that every commenter is given a unique geometric avatar that remains consistent across this site. You happen to have a randomly generated icon with a swastika. Hah. If this is an issue, read on.

The identicon is tied to your IP and/or email address. You can override this icon by signing up at Gravatar. From there you can have any picture you want show up on this and many <i>many</i> other blogs you may comment on. You or anyone who comments on this or other blogs can (and should) do this.

Here's where you sign up for Gravatar, to show your own avatar next to your comments:

Here's more info on the Identicon Wordpress plug-in that assigns random geometric avatars to users who haven't signed up with Gravatar and uploaded their own:

To answer your other questions:

yaeh… pretty cool… oh… no, not realy…
1. why doesn’t the stream work, if i click on the play icon? it always says “error opening file”

Our MP3 server is still down.

2. how i can fix that?

You can't. But we can and will quite soon. Just need to pay off some debts. We're in the hole 1500 in overage charges for last month. Ppl love teh free downloads, but they're not really free. :<

We're workin' on it.

3. i really like this page. maybe i’m in love with it, but i want to hear the music on this page, too^^

Thanks. We're down but not out.</li><li><a href="http://missingtoof.com/2008/10/27/hall-and-oates-out-of-touch-action-jackson-remix/#comment-26100">December 19, 2008</a>, <a href='http://www.beyondrace.com' rel='external nofollow' class='url'>Evan</a> writes: I just saw Hall and Oates on the Daily Show the other night.
