ATL’s Rrrump come off like fun lovin’ party wreckers. This rawkus threesome are doing the darned thing on fellow ATLien Le Castle Vania’s new label, Always Never, part of the So Sweet Records fam.
Tonight Rrrump (and Le Castle Vania) supports indie/dance Aussies Cut Copy & The Presets on the Modular Peoples Atlanta tour date (Cut Copy’s full US tour can be seen here). This has epic potential, everybody that can go should make the move. I know I’d be there.
Brooklyn’s The American Dream Team (or, TADT) have returned and I’m feelin’ patriotic. This mix has me dancing to a whole heap of my favorite tunes. This mix has the same skillful execution as the first mix, ‘What Dreams Are Made Of’. Please enjoy v2.0, as mixed by the Team’s Code-D:

From the mix above TADT have hooked up the VIP remix of ‘Money’, you remember the track with the chant to be about (”money, bitches, cars, clothes & weed”)? Now with added flavor from MCs Whiskey Pete & Andre Parnel (a.k.a. MC Dre):
See TADT clown on the decks like damned Globetrotters or somethin’. Assorted dates in Brooklyn & Manhattan are on the books, including tonight, at Crooked Disco, where they share the night with other special ppls Streetlab. Always current dates & dets on TADT’s MySpace tour page.
Birmingham, UK has a powerhouse of sound in Will Bailey (a.k.a. Rudi Stakker). Formerly half of short-lived fidget outfit Twocker (with Calvertron), and owner of startup label Simma, Will Bailey makes world-renowned tracks in the emerging fidget house sub-genre. It’s something that sounds a bit of UK garage, electro house, drum’n'bass and breakbeat thrown in a martini shaker and poured over a 4/4 time signature (don’t forget the olive). Will Bailey shares the Fidget umbrella with the likes of Crookers, Stupid Fresh & Mickey Slim, just to name a few.
Just in, Will Bailey has shared with us his throbbing remix of Southside Queens hip-hop hero, Pharoahe Monch (who you know we got love for, peep the profile of Monch & his former group, Organized Konfusion in this post from last year). This is perhaps taking a cue from the electro-minded remix by Edinbergh’s Hostage. If you’ve heard ‘em all, how’s this compare? I think this is huge:
Here’s another Will Bailey banger with additional production from fellow Birmingham “producer/engineer/DJ” Mikey Hook, he’s not much older than seventeen and already smashing tracks with the big boys.
And for good measure, here’s that Twocker sound that you’ve grown to love (or you should have). It’s a remix of their only original single (with the exception of the ‘Chopper’ B-side) as remixed by other major fidget playboys, Sydney’s Bass Kleph. Love teh wonk:
And yo, we ain’t even finished yet! To match the exclusive remix at the top, here’s a mix to match. Recorded hot on the heels of Will Bailey’s recent gig trip to L.A. to play Nocturnal Wonderland. California love:
Tracklist:
AC Slater - Jack Got Jacked (Jackbeats Remix) (Will Bailey Into Remix)
The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up (Bass Weazal Remix)
How You Like Me Now [Rico Tubbs VIP Remix)
Lee Mortimer - Putto
Idiot - Gorilla (Lee Moritmer Remix
Mighty Fools - Hey Babe
Bass Weazal - Jungle massive
DJ Deekline - Don't Smoke da Reefer (Twocker Remix)
In the mix the Pharoahe Monch track is credited to both Will Bailey & Mikey Hook. I dunno what givz thurr. Whatevs! Twocker, although “broken up”, are going on a Australian tour through early October. Will Bailey goes on to Canadian dates late October through November 1st. Then it’s back to the home country for more UK TLC. Full dates and details on Will Bailey’s MySpace page.
ATL come L.A. DJ/Producer Le Castle Vania has earned a reputation for whipping crowds into a frenzy, no doubt aided by this staple of his sets, the hard-as-fucking-nails electro track, ‘Zero Machine’ that samples (or remixes, if you prefer) the alternative gods, The Smashing Pumpkins, classic, ‘Zero’. If last year was all about Mr. Oizo’s RATM remix (or was it, Patrick Alavi’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ (here) remix instead?), this year is all about:
MP3: Le Castle Vania - Zero Machine

Also new in the Le Castle Vania repository is this collaboration with Birmingham (but soon to be L.A.) party monster, Computer Club. Computer Club shot this over to us before his recent string of L.A. dates, including Nocuturnal Wonderland (where he straight murdered it). Nod to event coordinators like Insomniac who have, in the last year, let this indie-electro-blog-house thing get a massive stage of their own and fill it with global players. It’s fun to be along for the ride as a genre goes from fledgling to full-fledged—But I digress… Here’s Le Castle Vania & Computer Club:
Yo, so why’s it called ‘The Messiah’ (Besides the potentially obvious, it being a straight-up cover of Renegade Hardware junglist, Konflict’s 2000 track, ‘Messiah’), here’s one you might not know, from way back to 2003, when Le Castle Vania was Messiah-1, drum’n'bass producer and operator of his own short-lived label Negaverse Recordings. The release is a tune is ‘Relic’ which got a properly massive remix by L.A.’s Gridlok and the original ‘Red Dust’. Strictly jungle (the crazy bass drops are all about half-way in):
Boh! If you love it, know that we love it too. If you don’t, go kick rocks. Or, maybe give this other contemporary Le Castle Vania a try, as remixed by L.A.’s top-shelf’s LA Riots:
Our favorite Orange County peoples, True Pseudo are steadily building an arsenal of killer dance music artillery. Since their introduction right here, last May, the crew have gone on to take on an unofficial, but officially awesome, remix of Upstate N.Y.’s indie darlings, MGMT’s, ‘Electric Feel’. Also, a cool colab. with San Diego rockstars Buddy Akai (who previously got the Villains remix treatment—amazing) and L.A. party-boy MC, Whiskey Pete.
MP3: True Pseudo - Maxed Out (feat. Whiskey Pete & Buddy Akai)
Removed at label’s request.
We’ve put this up before, but it deserves another go! Here’s a favorite from the original batch of True Pseudo tracks. True Pseudo’s Flitch on vocals. Not having to rely on a remix to make a good indie/electro track—the mark of professionals:
MP3: True Pseudo - Freaking Me Out
Removed at label’s request.
N.Y. come L.A. DJ Reid Speed throws down a mean fidgety electro house mix for all you wayward back-to-schoolers to sneak into your iPods (pro tip: grow shaggy hair & you can wear headphones in class). The mix is ‘Back To School’. The sound is massive.
For a quick bio, know that Reid entered the drum’n'bass scene in the mid ’90s working raves & honing her DJ chops, shortly after, she securing a spot behind the scenes at heavyweight junglist Dara’s highly revered Breakbeat Science record shop (and label) in Manhattan. Her DJing has taken her physically to stages across the globe, and musically from drum’n'bass to UK garage to breakbeat to some fidget electro that you hear below.

Now, the Breakdown crew & I have been friend for several years, and we came to the realization that it’d be fun to throw a little party together. So, if you’re in Hollywood on a Tuesday and feelin’ like getting saucy & moving your ass around, check out BOOM ROOM, located in the Attic at Arena (we’re sharing the space with DANCE who majorly rave downstairs in the main room). It’s a party, yo! Free & easy!
Icelandic treasure, Björk—always relevant, always amazing—has always gained strength partly from knowing how to pick collaborators & partners. From husband & aberrant artist Matthew Barney to diverse creative partners like Thom Yorke, Tricky, Chris Cunningham, Lars von Trier & Spümcø just to name a small handful.
Working with only the best, Björk & London label One Little Indian have enlisted Berlin’s Modeselektor & Londoner, Sinden to remix her latest single, ‘Dull Flame of Desire’ (b/w ‘Innocence’). This is fresh from the padded mailer. You heard it here first:

Also fresh from the Kill The Noise vaults for your iPod pleasure is this favorite from ‘Volume 1′, a Kill The Noise original, ‘Pull My Strings’. An exclusive on Missingtoof, from him via usss, wit luv,
Kill The Noise has increased his celebrity to lots of int’l touring & top billing at raves (ahem, “music festivals”). This is after already having an establishing his name in drum & bass. In fact, under his Ewun moniker, he is touring down under right now with Lifted artist & Renegade Hardware alum, Spor. Australian dates run through September 13th.
Kill The Noise’s other project, Ludachrist, is also worth your attention (see here for more). The last time Ludachrist performed it was nothing short of hilarious & amazing—with a chrousline of Spongebob, Gene Simmons & Barney (the purple dinosaur) impersonators poppin’ & lockin’ on stage—with Kill The Noise & partner Knick (of Evol Intent fame) presiding over the decks & laptops in full black-magic regalia. Sound awesome, live vicariously through YouTube clips, one and two.
Not to be missed, Ludachrist returns to L.A. at the top of the bill under—just under London’s heavy-banger, Sinden—at the return of Club 1107 on Friday, September 26th.
And, as the DJ you’ve come to love, Kill The Noise performs this Wednesday in Perth, Australia. Also, for my L.A. peoples, at So. Cal. massive, Fuzzy Festival. Additional dates & locations including, Portland, Winnipeg, Edmonton & Rochester are available and always current at Kill The Noise’s MySpace tour page.
L.A.’s hardest working, edIT of The Glitch Mob crew (with OOAH, Boreta, & Kraddy) is what’s up right now. His sophmore LP, ‘Certified Air Raid Material, was released last October on Alpha Pup (home of Daedelus, Daddy Kev, et. al), and it is certified epic—for those that slept, edIT has just dropped this mix’d version of the album cuts on the free tip, for your head-noddin’ needs.
If you love it, cop the unmixed Certified Air Raid Material on Amazon.
edIT just wrapped his Euro tour (wrapping up last night at Koko with DJ Krush). Now he’s headin’ back the the US (via BC)! Peep out dates and details at edIT’s MySpace tour page.
Once upon a time, edIT ran one of my favorite blogs, the gitch-tastic, Complex Player’s Club. It’s gone the way of the dinosaur, but I’ll never forget. Here’s a absurdly awesome favorite produced by edIT, with girls from indie folk band, Daphne the Painted Lady, under the Porno Mathematics guise. I’ll leave you with this:
Justice do deserve the hype. You know the name, you know what they do—Here’s their latest, on the payroll of fashion design house, Dior Homme (that’s “Dior Man”, y’all). You can hear Justice’s new mix in action on the Dior Homme site in the ‘09 Spring/Summer fitting video. This is very similar the collaboration between Daft Punk and Louis Vuitton, where Daft Punk supplied a mix to celebrate Vuitton’s ‘08 Spring/Summer collection.
The little mix is available for iPod consumption below:
Stay fashionable. More photos of the Dior Homme Spring/Summer line, on the web at YouTube in two parts: Part One and Part Two, set to Justice, of course.
One more for good measure—in case you missed it—Daft Punk’s brief mix for Vuitton:
Justice are currently in the middle of a world tour through the end of September. Dates in Europe, Japan, US (including San Francisco). See full dates and details at Justice’s MySpace tour page.
