Shwayze: ‘Buzzin’ (feat. Cisco Adler) (Villains Remix v.2)’

Malibu’s resident indie-rap hero, Shwayze built a rep writing earnest raps and putting it down at live shows. His hustle got him noticed by former Geffen president and current Interscope imprint, Suretone president, Jordan Schur. The standout cut, ‘Buzzin” enlists help from friend, celeb., Whitestarr rocker and son of Lou Alder, Cisco Alder. Cisco delivers the winning hook on ‘Buzzin”.

Enter Villains, you know the name, you know how they get down (or, at least, you should). So, out went the acoustic rock baseline found in the original and in drops the quantized-drum electro craziness. The production is supreme, as per usual.

L.A.’s Philthy B wants to be your favorite DJ. Not long ago, the electro-phenom Villains were three—but now they are two, and Philthy B, former Villain, walks alone on this 46 minute mix, ‘It May B Durty but Luv the Jurny’. It’s similar to the skillful Villains - Vol. 1 Featuring Whiskey Pete mix we dropped on y’all last year, but this one has a little more gutter club thumping in the guts.

Also you should know, Philthy B has now teamed up with SF-come-LA electro-houser DJ Farron on the new project After Midnight. More on that in the future, but for now, dip into this. It’s some club, some electro, some dubstep, some hip hop—All good. This mixtape has been in my stacks for a minute, but the playlist isn’t spoiled. There’s dance left in it, so get dancing!

L.A. badguys, Villains are doing big things since their introduction just two months ago. Regular hometown heroes they are (leave it to L.A. to make the Villians our heroes). This past Saturday, on the L.A. based radio station Indie 103.1’s premier electro music program, Neon Noise, Villains graced the airwaves with another solid set (hot on the heels from their gigs at Sundance Film Festival). This small-but-potent mix is what transpired.

Daft Punk’s Alive album dropped today—but you knew that already—of course, by the date circled on your calendar and the preceding long trail of X’s.

Like everyone else we’re excited to be able to hold on to the brilliant set from this year’s ALIVE tour. The mix that appears on the album was recorded during the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy performance in Paris, France on June 14th.

We’re fortunate enough to have the brand new limited CD and a accompanying poster to give away. Winner picked at random from eligible entries. All you must do to enter is email the address below. As you’ve probably noticed if you’ve been here recently, we’re very excited about Villains.

Who better than than three young, but experienced, audio engineers to usher in the the new era of Los Angeles and US Electro sound? You’ve heard their remix of Bloc Party and their finesse of Michael Jackson samples. So what’s next? The acid test, it seems, in this electronic music niché is the Daft Punk remix—they’re never in short supply and it seems that every would-be producer has one in their répertoire. For this benchmark of production ability, the Villains pass with flying colors, while the majority turn out as dull as alkaline.

Villains - Vol. 1, Featuring Whiskey Pete (Mix)

Villains have officially taken over the blogger’nets. Starting with yrs truly, the villany spread to Good Weather for Airstirkes, BlocParty.net and on down the line.

As promised in the introduction earlier this month, more Villains coming at you. Today we have their first mix, ‘Vol. 1′ for your speakers. So, crank ‘em up and get an earful of this electro set that the Villains “can almost call … a ‘classic’ mix wrapping up what was hot for 2007″.

This mix is atypical for an electro set for two reasons: First, it has an emcee, LA’s own D’n'B champ, Whiskey Pete, who spikes the beat-punch with a few shots of party raps. Second, the Villains can cut a mean record and they bring that turntabilsm to the table—or pair of turntables as it were.

‘Vol. 1′ is also one of the few places you’ll hear the mastered version of the Justice’s ‘DVNO’, LA Riots remix—that will be appearing on an upcoming Ed Banger EP.

Villains are so very sinister. We’ve always kinda rooted for the bad guy, so we are loving these motherfuckers. Internet, say hello to the bad guy.

Villains hail from Los Angeles and roll tight with fellow bad men LA Riots—if that means anything to you—and it should (peep the LA Riots archive).

Dang! That song is a dastardly juggernaut! I loved that ‘Hunting for Witches’ RAC remix we put up in April and of course we loved the Crystal Castles one that we up’d later, but folks, I love this one. It’s a new favorite mix of a new(ish) Bloc Party classic!

Villains have also tore apart a Michael Jackson sample from ‘Thriller’ and made it their own—’Thrilla’. As Vincent Price said, “no mere mortal can resist the evil of the thriller.” Bwahaha.
